Comparative analysis of edutainment opportunities in geography teaching using the example of the topic "Natural zones of the Earth" in grade 6

Annotation.The article is devoted to the analysis of the possibilities of edutainment technology in teaching geography, in particular when studying the topic “Natural zones of the Earth” in grade 6. The paper considers the essence of edutainment as an educational approach that combines educational activities with elements of play, interactivity and multimedia support. A comparative analysis of Ukrainian and foreign educational resources that implement the principles of learning through entertainment is carried out: from didactic games and card tasks to digital platforms, virtual simulations and interactive online quests. The article identifies pedagogical conditions under which the use of edutainment contributes to increasing students’ internal motivation, activating their cognitive activity and deeper assimilation of theoretical material. Particular attention is paid to practical examples of the implementation of game and multimedia techniques in geography lessons in Ukrainian schools, which prove the effectiveness of combining educational content with emotionally positive forms of interaction. It has been shown that edutainment has significant potential in shaping students' interest in natural sciences and can be integrated into school curricula as an effective motivational mechanism.
